Friday classes have been cancelled at CEGEP de Valleyfield because of a police operation on the campus.
In a post on its Facebook page, school officials said a police operation that began early Friday morning was continuing and that the library had also been closed.
In a statement issued at 8:15 a.m., the Sûreté du Québec said it received a call at 6:15 a.m. concerning an employee who had been injured by an attacker. A police perimeter was set up around the school.
A suspect was tracked down and taken to hospital. He will be questioned once his state of health allows. The employee was taken to hospital for the treatment of injuries deemed not to be life threatening.
The police investigation is continuing.
