Old Montreal fire: Police arrest suspects in fire that killed two people Oct. 4

Montreal police say they have made an arrest in the early-morning fire that killed two people Friday.

They say two people have been arrested.

Police are scheduled to hold a news conference at 3 p.m. to discuss the case.

Léonor Geraudie, 43, and her seven-year-old daughter, Vérane Reynaud-Geraudie, died in the five-alarm blaze Oct. 4.

The property is owned by Émile Benamor, the Montreal defence lawyer who also owns the property on Place d’Youville in Old Montreal where seven people died in a fire on March 16, 2023.

On Tuesday, police arrested three men after shots were fired at another building Benamor owns in Old Montreal.
