Corbeille de Pain, a non-profit organization, held its annual fundraising event in collaboration with local potters.
The public event, which took place in Montreal’s Pointe-Claire on Saturday, aimed to raise awareness about food insecurity.
“We have beautiful handmade pottery bowls that were donated by potters from different pottery guilds in the West Island. And even TMR this year also contributed,” said Anik Vigneault at Corbeille de Pain. “So, we’ve luckily got over 620 bowls as donations, which is a record for us.
“And each bowl that’s being sold also comes with a delicious soup that we made ourselves and they can either enjoy the soup here hot or we have some frozen soups to take home for those who don’t want to stay.”
Empty Bowls is Corbeille de Pain’s biggest fundraiser.
“The need increases and what’s being said is that low-income people can be anybody. And more and more, even though you have a full-time job, you can struggle to make ends meet,” said Virginie Grenier-Deschênes at Corbeille de Pain.
