Montreal police are investigating what they’re calling a suspicious death in the Plateau neighbourhood.

At about 5 a.m. Sunday, police received a 911 call about a man who was unconscious in an alley near Parc and Mount Royal avenues

Const. Jean-Pierre Brabant of the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM) says the man was in his 30s.

After officers performed CPR on the man, they declared him dead at the scene.

Brabant said police have labelled the death suspicious after seeing marks of violence on the man’s body.

He says investigators will now try to find witnesses and also check surveillance video in the area.
