What’s open and closed in Montreal on Victoria Day/Patriots’ Day

Here’s a partial list of what will be open and closed on Quebec’s National Patriots’ Day (Victoria Day elsewhere in Canada), on Monday, May 20.

Many shopping malls and stores will be open.

Banks and financial institutions will be closed.

Montreal’s public markets such as the Atwater, Maisonneuve and Jean-Talon markets will be open.

Société des alcools du Québec (SAQ) and Société québécoise du cannabis (SQDC) stores will be open according to usual hours.

Municipal offices will be closed. Montreal’s 311 phone line will remain in operation.

Garbage, recycling, compost and all other waste pickup services will maintain usual schedules in all boroughs. Visit ville.montreal.qc.ca/infocollectes or call 311 for more information.

Montreal’s Ecocentres will be open on regular summer schedules.

Schedules vary for Montreal arenas, swimming pools, sports centres, libraries, gyms and cultural venues depending on the borough. For information, visit ville.montreal.qc.ca or call 311.

The Rio Tinto Alcan Planetarium, Biodôme, Botanical Garden, Insectarium and Biosphère will be open. Espace pour la vie recommends purchasing tickets in advance at espacepourlavie.ca.

The Montreal Municipal Court (775 Gosford St.) service counter will be closed, as will its courtrooms, except room R.40 where hearings for detained persons are held.

Parking meters remain in operation unless otherwise specified and all restrictions must be obeyed.

The Société de transport de Montréal métro and bus services operate on a holiday schedule. Consult schedules at stm.info/en or call 514-288-6287.

Exo buses will run on a Saturday schedule, and commuter trains will operate on a Sunday schedule, which means no service on the Mont-St-Hilaire, Candiac and Mascouche lines. Adapted transit hours will be 6:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The Société de transport de Laval and Réseau de transport de Longueuil buses and adapted transit will run on Saturday schedules.

Canada Post offices will be closed, but those operated by the private sector may be open according to the schedule of the host business.

Revenue Quebec offices will be closed.
