Two men arrested after shots fired in Plateau

Two men in their early 20s were arrested after shots were fired overnight in the Plateau-Mont-Royal borough.

The gunshots were reported to the Montreal police (SPVM) at around 1:10 am Thursday. Heard on Henri-Julien Avenue, near Boucher Street.

Upon arrival, officers did not find anyone injured, but said they saw a suspicious vehicle fleeing the scene.

After a brief search, they found the vehicle in question, which was parked a few streets – northwest of the crime scene.

“At that point, two suspects fled on foot, but they were quickly located and arrested by the police,” said SPVM spokesperson Caroline Chèvrefils.

The two men, aged 20 and 21, will be met by investigators.

SPVM officers said that bullet holes were found on an apartment building, while shell casings were found on the ground.

The same building is said to have been a target of gunfire on March 23. It’s reported that the mother of an alleged Montreal organized crime figure lives there.

The investigation is currently ongoing.
