McGill University has announced that its upcoming graduation convocation ceremonies will be relocated to the Bell Centre.
The decision comes amid the continued presence of a pro-Palestinian encampment on the lower field of the university campus, which has been in place since April 27.

In an email sent to graduating students, the McGill stated: “We had greatly hoped that this could be avoided, but due to the ongoing situation on the lower field of our downtown campus, it is necessary.”
Originally scheduled to take place on the downtown campus from May 28 through June 4, the events will now be held at the Bell Centre over the same dates.
Despite the change in location, McGill assured students that the essence of the celebration remains intact.
“Throughout McGill’s long 203-year history, in good times and challenging times alike, convocation has always been a jubilant milestone for our graduating students — a joyous opportunity to applaud the hard work that has culminated in this momentous day,” the email said.
