$415M for new aerospace innovation centers in Greater Montreal, Boeing part of the investment 

A major investment for Quebec’s aerospace industry announced on Tuesday in Montreal, to the tune of $415 million and American company Boeing is involved.

The Legault government with the creation of a fourth innovation zone called ‘Espace Aéro,’ located in Longueuil, Mirabel and Montreal.

The project is led by Aéro Montréal and they want to enhance Quebec’s ‘attractiveness’ in the aerospace field – hoping to make it a world leader in decarbonization and advanced air mobility.

The investments will total $415 million, including $85 million from the Quebec government, and aircraft manufacturer Boeing has invested $240 million.

Quebec Premier François Legault and several others made the announcement at the International Aerospace Innovation forum in Montreal.

Two areas of development will be prioritized.

The first section will be decarbonization by creating more efficient, lighter structures, and less polluting systems. The second focus will be aircraft autonomy and safety by using intelligent communication, remote controls and cyber-security technologies and systems.
