Cyclist, 46, seriously injured in collision in Rosemont–La Petite-Patrie: SPVM

A cyclist suffered significant head injuries after being struck by a vehicle in the Rosemont–La Petite-Patrie borough.

The collision occurred Saturday morning around 6:40 a.m. at the intersection of Pie-IX Boulevard and Laurier Avenue.

“On the scene, the police provided assistance to the cyclist, a 46-year-old man who was lying on the ground and had serious injuries to his head,” said SPVM spokesperson Véronique Dubuc.

The man was conscious when taken to hospital.

“According to initial information obtained by the police, a vehicle was travelling on Pie-IX Boulevard, heading north, and struck the cyclist as he crossed the intersection heading east. The driver of the vehicle, a 19-year-old man, and his passenger, aged 23, suffered minor injuries and nervous shock. They were transported to a hospital,” Dubuc said.

A security perimeter was established. Pie-IX was closed to traffic between Saint-Joseph Boulevard and Masson Street.

The SPVM investigation continues.
