Police execute warrants in Pointe-Claire, Île-Perrot and Vaudreuil-Dorion in grandparent scam probe

A series of search warrants are being carried out Tuesday in Pointe-Claire, Île-Perrot and Vaudreuil-Dorion by police officers with the Escouade nationale de répression du crime organisé (ENRCO) as part of an investigation into an alleged grandparent scam.

In a release, ENRCO said it is searching businesses and residences at five addresses and that the investigation began in August 2022.

“The operation mobilized nearly 50 police officers from different investigation units,” the special squad wrote, adding ENRCO is mandated “to specifically target the leaders of organized crime, including full-patch members of the Hells Angels. ENRCO Montréal is made up of police officers from the Sûreté du Québec, Montreal police, the Laval police service, Ontario Provincial Police, RCMP and members of Canada Border Services Agency.
