RCMP arrest Quebec man with 3D-printed gun, charge him with anti-Jewish hate speech

The RCMP announced on Friday they had arrested a 37-year-old man in connection with the seizure on Thursday of a homemade firearm and a “significant quantity” of 3D printers.

Pascal Tribout, of St-Joseph-du-Lac, is also alleged to have made hateful comments against the Jewish community in a public forum on the social network Telegram, a criminal offence. The RCMP alleges further that Tribout “possessed and shared computer data that could be used to manufacture firearms with a 3D printer, which is also illegal.”

Police said Tribout faces several charges including weapons trafficking, possession of a prohibited firearm and wilful promotion of hatred.

Tribout remains in custody pending his next court appearance and further charges against him are possible, the RCMP said.

B’nai Brith Canada said it “played a significant role” in the investigation, gathering “crucial information about his hate-motivated conduct.”

In a statement, the organization said the arrest “underscores the critical importance of vigilance and proactive action in combating hate and violence. B’nai Brith Canada remains steadfast in our mission to protect the Jewish community and all Canadians from hate.”
