2 dead, at least 2 vehicles catch fire after collisions in Laval, Que.

Two people have died following a series of collisions on a regional road in Laval, Que., that involved four vehicles, with two of them catching fire.

At around 2 p.m., a semi-trailer collided head-on with a car while travelling on Route 335 near St-Saëns Street E. in the city’s Auteuil district, according to Laval police. 

Police say that collision then led to at least two other vehicles being hit.

Two vehicles, one of them the 53-foot truck, caught fire.

Two people died at the scene, according to paramedic service Urgences-santé. Three people — a man and woman in their 30s along with a minor — suffered injuries and were taken to hospital, but their lives are not in danger.

Urgences-santé could not confirm the ages of the victims who died. 

As of 3 p.m., emergency crews were still on scene. A stretch of Route 335 is closed in both directions and police are asking drivers to avoid that area.
