Montreal police have arrested four suspects in connection with two shootings that took place last summer. They say the two shootings may be related.
Two of the suspects, men aged 25 and 28, were already incarcerated on separate charges at the time of their arrest. Their alleged accomplices, 24 and 32, were arrested in Edmonton and Terrebonne, Que.
Police say all four suspects have ties to gangs in Montreal.
Last June, a 32-year-old man was shot and killed in his parked car, an Audi Q8, in the Lanaudière region. An investigation led by Quebec provincial police suggested the man might have been a victim of mistaken identity, and was not the intended target of the shooting.
On Aug. 7, 2023, a 28-year-old man was found lifeless on a sidewalk outside a bar on Ste-Catherine Street in downtown Montreal with multiple gunshot wounds. Police believe he might have been the intended target of the June shooting.
All four men will face charges of first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit murder.
