Woman’s death in Lachine a homicide: Montreal police

Montreal police say the death of a 64-year-old woman found in an apartment in Lachine Monday is being treated as a homicide.

Police spokesperson Sabrina Gauthier confirmed on Tuesday morning her death is considered the 21st homicide of the year on the island of Montreal.

Police received a 911 call at about 7:45 p.m. Monday and responded to the residential building on 32nd Avenue, near Victoria Street.

When officers arrived, they found the woman’s lifeless body. She was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.

The police’s Major Crime unit was at the scene Tuesday to gather evidence and investigate the crime.
