Senior found unconscious in Boucherville residential pool

A woman is in hospital after being found unconscious in a residential swimming pool in Boucherville.

Longueuil police (SPAL) says that the 73-year-old woman was found around 2:20 p.m. on Wednesday in a swimming pool on Corbon Street.

Upon arriving at the scene, officers began performing CPR on the woman before paramedics brought her to hospital.

Her life is considered to be in danger.

A security perimeter has been set up around the scene to clarify the causes and circumstances of this incident.

Unsupervised swimming by seniors aged 65 and over has been the leading cause of drowning deaths in residential pools over the past four years in Quebec.

According to Le Journal, nearly 60 per cent of the 70 drowning deaths in private swimming pools in the province were seniors.
