Île-aux-Tourtes Bridge to close completely this weekend

The Île-aux-Tourtes Bridge, connecting the island of Montreal with Vaudreuil-Dorion on Highway 40, will be completely closed to traffic this weekend, Transport Quebec announced Monday.

The closure is necessary as part of maintenance work on the bridge, including installing a membrane and asphalting.

Highway 40 will be closed in both directions between Anciens-Combattants Blvd. in Ste-Anne-de-Bellevue and St-Charles Ave. in Vaudreuil-Dorion from 11:59 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday. Access to Senneville Rd. will be maintained during that time for westbound traffic.

The ramp for Highway 40 east from the interchange with Highway 30 will be closed to redirect eastbound traffic to Highway 20 instead.

During the closure, the toll on Highway 30 will be suspended in both directions.

Work has commenced on the construction of a new bridge to replace the crumbling Île-aux-Tourtes, but the first span is only scheduled to open by the end of 2026.

On Monday, the Île-aux-Tourtes Bridge resumes its current configuration, with one lane of traffic in each direction and a third lane switching directions for rush hours.
