Residents in Shawinigan are struggling to recover after remnants from Tropical Storm Debby left homes isolated, roads damaged, and flooding.
According to a preliminary assessment, Shawinigan has reported $10 million worth of damages.
On Monday, nearly 200 homes in Mauricie were still cut off and isolated around Lac de Piles. Supplies were brought over to those trapped, and some were rescued by boat.
On Tuesday, shuttles were made available for residents from Bay-Martin to Lac de Piles, which will transport them to the Grand-Mère commercial area. The first one left at 7:30 a.m. and more will continue throughout the day until 7:30 p.m. tonight.
The shuttles will allow people to buy groceries, medicine, and other essentials at stores.
The city said its working to repair the damage and have asked people to stop driving on the closed roads.
