Canada Post to offer more services in English in Quebec

Canada Post will reportedly soon offer more services in English in Quebec, particularly in Montreal, according to a consultation on bilingualism in post offices across the nation.

According to TVA, the federal Crown corporation surveyed the population — of certain unspecified regions — to assess the state of bilingual services in its network of post offices, as it is required to do every ten years under the Official Languages Act.

The organization is therefore reportedly planning to convert 24 offices in the greater Montreal area.

These will go from being unilingual French to bilingual.

This means that nearly one in three post offices — or 31 per cent — will be bilingual in the Montreal region, compared to one in five — or 21 per cent — currently.
