Manitoba RCMP say the triple homicide near McCreary, Man., last week involved a 41-year-old man killing three of his former partner’s family members — her parents and brother — before turning the gun on himself.
They are describing the murders as a crime of intimate partner violence.
Police say Martin Glover “forcibly entered” the home of his 37-year-old former partner around 1:20 a.m. on Aug. 16. Authorities say the woman escaped the home and hid in a nearby wooded area.
RCMP allege Glover then drove to a nearby home belonging to the woman’s relatives. They say he fatally shot her 35-year-old brother, 65-year-old father and 66-year-old mother.
Police then say Glover left the home in his vehicle, stopped on the side of the road 84 West, and turned the gun on himself.
Mounties say the woman spent more than 11 hours hiding in the wooded area near her home before police found her. She was taken to hospital as a precaution.
