Quebec Liberal Party leader hopeful and former Montreal mayor Denis Coderre is defending himself in light of reports he owes Revenu Québec up to $66,000.
According to the Journal de Montréal, Revenu Québec recently placed a legal mortgage on a property Coderre acquired with his ex-wife in Montreal North in the late 1990s.
In a statement on social media, Coderre acknowledged the situation and said the legal mortgage represents nine per cent of the property’s value.
