Christine Fréchette to take over the Economy and Energy; Roberge inherits the Immigration portfolio

Christine Fréchette is officially taking on new responsibilities in the Legault government: she was appointed Minister of the Economy and Energy on Thursday afternoon, replacing Pierre Fitzgibbon.

For his part, Jean-François Roberge, Minister for the French Language and responsible for Canadian Relations, has inherited Fréchette’s former responsibilities at the Ministry of Immigration.

Fréchette and Roberge were sworn in in Quebec City late this afternoon.

Before entering politics in 2022, Fréchette was President and Director General of the Chamber of Commerce of East Montreal from 2016 to 2021.

She was also director of external and institutional relations at Montréal International from 2014 to 2016.
