Metropolitan westbound in Montreal: area to avoid this weekend

Montreal drivers are being warned to avoid Highway 40 (Metropolitan) westbound this coming weekend.

Paving work will require the complete closure of the Metropolitain westbound, between the Highway 15 (des Laurentides) interchange and Cavendish Blvd.

Transport Quebec anticipates considerable congestion because of this work and says in a press release that “the area should be avoided.”

From Friday, Sept. 13 at 11:59 p.m. to Monday, Sept. 16, at 5 a.m.: Complete closure of Highway 40 westbound, between Exit 70 – A-15 North / R-117 / Laval / Ch. Rockland / M.-Laurin Blvd. and the Cavendish entrance. Traffic will be diverted onto the service road (chemin de la Côte-de-Liesse).

Default closures until Monday 5 a.m. :

  • A-15 (des Laurentides) South ramp to A-40 West, as of Friday 11:30 p.m;
  • Stinson entrance to A-40 West, as of Friday 11 p.m;
  • A-40 West ramp to A-15 (Décarie) South, as of Friday 11:59 p.m;
  • A-15 (Décarie) North ramp to A-40 West, as of Friday 11:30 p.m;
  • A-40 West ramp to A-520 West (and airport), as of Friday 11:59 p.m;
  • Exit no. 64 – Cavendish Blvd. from A-40 West, as of Friday 11:59 p.m.

In the event of unfavorable weather conditions or operational constraints, the closure may be postponed.

The following optional routes are suggested: Highways 440 and 13, Highways 20 or 30.
