Man dies after being hit by car in Montreal

A pedestrian was fatally struck by a vehicle in the borough of Ville-Marie in Montreal on Wednesday night.

According to the Montreal police (SPVM), the collision occurred around 9 p.m. in an alley near the intersection of Sherbrooke West and Mackay Street.

The victim is a 74-year-old man.

When officers arrived at the scene, the man was found unconscious, with injuries to his upper body.

“Resuscitation maneuvers were attempted by the emergency services on site, unfortunately without success,” said SPVM spokesperson Véronique Dubuc.

The driver, a 29-year-old man, was taken to hospital for shock.

“According to initial information gathered from witnesses, the collision occurred while the man was lying on the ground, for reasons that are currently unknown. The vehicle traveling in the alley did not see him and hit him,” said Dubuc.
