Pointe-Claire boil-water advisory remains in effect in some sectors

A boil-water advisory remains in effect for some sectors of Pointe-Claire, the city said Sunday in a Facebook post.

The advisory is in effect for Lakeshore Rd. between St-Joachim and Victoria Aves.; for De Lourdes Ave.; for Ste-Anne Ave; and for St-Joachim.

A significant water main break was detected late Friday afternoon at the intersection of Cartier Ave. and Lakeshore Rd. in Pointe-Claire Village, and water supply in the area was cut and motorists were asked to avoid the area.

The water supply was restored Saturday following an inspection of the pipeline, but the city said repair of the pipeline will not be complete until a required replacement part is manufactured.

Pointe-Claire Mayor Tim Thomas said in a Facebook post on Sunday repair efforts have begun and lab results, presumably to indicate if or when the boil-water advisory could be lifted, are being awaited.

“Things are progressing quickly and we may know sooner than anticipated,” he said in his post.
