Boy, 5, drowns in Beauharnois, Que., residential pool

A five-year-old boy drowned in a residential pool in Beauharnois, Que., late Thursday. 

The boy was underwater for about 30 minutes before he was found, according to a spokesperson for CETAM, the local ambulance service.

Emergency services were called to the home and arrived shortly after 8 p.m., but by then, the boy was not breathing and had no pulse.

Paramedics tried to resuscitate him and transported him to the hospital in critical condition, where he was later pronounced dead. 

Police in Châteauguay and the Quebec coroner’s office are investigating.
