Canadian weightlifter Maude Charron wins silver in women’s 59kg class

Canada’s Maude Charron won an Olympic silver medal in the women’s 59-kilogram weightlifting event at Paris 2024 on Thursday.

The 31-year-old from Rimouski, Que., was competing in a new division after capturing Olympic gold in the now-defunct 64kg weight class at the Tokyo Games in 2021.

China’s Luo Shifang captured the gold medal after setting Olympic records in the snatch and the clean and jerk, while Chinese Taipei’s Kuo Hsing-Chun took bronze.
