How this Montreal 7th grader’s bike fall inspired him to protect cyclists

Last year, West Island student Adam Hamdaqa fell off his bike and wondered how he could help others his age contact their parents in the event of an accident. This year, he won first prize with his ‘Guardian Helmet’ in Hydro-Quebec’s Montreal regional science and technology fair. His project, which can detect movement and send a signal to guardians or emergency services if a cyclist falls, set him apart from 130 high school and CEGEP participants.
