Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) says an early spring storm is expected to bring rain and slushy snow to Montreal in the coming days.

The weather agency issued a special weather statement Tuesday warning of an “intense Colorado low” that will begin Wednesday afternoon, bringing predominantly wet snow mixed with rain.

“Total snowfall amounts will depend on how the system evolves and on the types of precipitation, but could be in the 10- to 15-centimetre range,” ECCC said in the statement updated Tuesday afternoon.

It also says northeast winds will reach up to 60 km/h along the St. Lawrence River on Thursday.

In the Eastern Townships, Bromont and Sutton are expected to get 15 to 25 centimetres of snow.

The agency is asking people to consider postponing any non-essential travel.
