19-year-old man stabbed in Montreal: SPVM investigates

The life of the 19-year-old man who was stabbed in Montreal on Saturday evening is no longer in danger.

The attack occurred shortly before 7 p.m. on Arcand Street, near Robert-Jurie Street, in the Mercier–Hochelaga-Maisonneuve borough.

“According to initial information received, a conflict escalated between a group of individuals and another man. When police officers arrived on the scene, they located a victim, a 19-year-old man with injuries to his upper body caused by a sharp object. The victim was taken to a hospital and we fear for his life,” said Sabrina Gauthier, spokesperson for the Montreal Police Department (SPVM), late in the evening.

Two men, aged 19 and 27, were arrested by police. They will be met by investigators.

A security perimeter is still in place.

“We are still trying to understand the causes and circumstances of this event. The canine squad is on the scene to analyze the scene and search for evidence,” said Ms. Gauthier.
