2024 Presidents Cup: 30,000 spectators daily, Montreal limiting vehicle traffic in the area

Montreal will host the Presidents Cup at the Royal Montreal Golf Club in Île-Bizard from Sept. 24 to 29.

The tournament is expected to gather the best golfers in the world, with close to 30,000 spectators in attendance daily.

However, a limited number of vehicles will be allowed in Île-Bizard for the duration of the tournament and street parking will be prohibited.

Only vehicles with event stickers will be allowed on the island, either through the Jacques-Bizard Bridge or on the ferry linked to Laval.

“Montreal is proud to be hosting the prestigious Presidents Cup for the 2nd time in 17 years. This international sporting event features the world’s best golfers and will contribute to Montréal’s reputation and status as a world-renowned sports city,” said Projet Montréal member Caroline Bourgeois.

Free shuttle buses will be offered for spectators at the Côte-Vertu metro station and at the corner of Peel and Saint-Jacques Street in downtown Montreal.

Participants should consult the promoter’s website or the city’s website to better plan their journeys.

The city of Montreal has also removed all road obstacles on the Jacques-Bizard Bridge, on Pierrefonds Blvd., between Sainte-Anne Street and Saint-Jean Blvd.

“Any vehicle that does not comply with these regulations will be towed, with the exception of vehicles with a sticker issued by the City of Montreal for parking on designated streets, which may continue to park in the prescribed zones during the event,” reads a statement from the City of Montreal.

Residents will receive three stickers by mail to install on the upper right corner of the windshield in their car. The stickers are needed to cross the bridge and to take the ferry.

To use the bridge, residents must drive to the screening area on Pierrefonds Blvd. East between Hamel Street and Jacques-Bizard Blvd.

“The city of Montreal is proud to offer its support to the organisers of this major tournament to help them make it a success. This prestigious event is expected to welcome 30,000 people each day, who will discover Île-Bizard and the magnificent Royal Montreal Golf Club, the oldest golf club in North America,” Bourgeois.
