3 Canadian cities make top work-life balance list

According to research done by Blueground, three Canadian cities are among the top 75 cities in the world for work-life balance.

The study looked into various factors such as work intensity, livability, and well-being of residents.

Ottawa managed to break into the top 5 and was the highest-ranked Canadian city. The only cities to beat the nation’s capitals for top honours were Helsinki, Oslo, Copenhagen, and Stockholm.

The other two Canadian cities to make the list were Toronto and Vancouver, which were seeded 14th and 22nd best.

Vancouver and Ottawa ranked as the best and fourth-best cities for air quality, while Toronto was a couple of percentage points lower and ranked 17th. Ottawa was also the highest-ranked city for outdoor spaces.

All three also ranked high for overall healthcare, access to mental health care, and paid parental leave.

Where the Canadian cities ranked the worst: minimum vacation days offered. All three were among the lowest ten for vacation days that are offered.

Vancouver lagged behind Ottawa and Toronto in housing affordability and the number of green spaces that are available.

Blueground looked at 16 total factors in 30 U.S. cities and 45 international cities that reportedly recognize the importance of work-life balance.
