CAQ government regaining popularity: new poll

The Coalition Avenir Québec (CAQ) government has seen a rise in the voter intentions, according to a Léger-Le Journal-TVA poll. Mainly taking points away from the provincial Liberal and Conservative parties.

Although Paul St-Pierre Plamondon’s Parti Québécois (PQ)  still sits in first, it’s stagnating with 32 per cent and the CAQ is narrowing the gap – gaining three points at 25 per cent.

Quebec Liberals are at 15 per cent, Québec solidaire (QS) at 14 per cent, Conservative party of Quebec at 10 per cent.

Premier François Legault’s popularity remains low. Only 20 per cent of those surveyed believe that he would make the best leader for Quebec, compared to 26 per cent for Plamondon.

The PQ remains the leading party among French speakers as well, but the CAQ gained four per cent in that area – according to the poll.

QS continues to slowly lose younger support. Only 29 per cent of young voters want QS in power, compared to 27 per cent for the PQ.

The poll was conducted from May 31 to June 2, among 1,015 Quebecers aged 18 and over, using the LEO online panel.

The maximum margin of error for a sample of 1,015 respondents is ± 3.08 per cent, 19 times out of 20.
