Car accident in Saint-Leonard

Emergency services responded to a vehicle collision in Saint-Leonard on Monday afternoon – between a car and a small SUV.

The two vehicles crashed at around 2:15 p.m. at the intersection of Bélanger and Langelier Blvd.

Montreal police (SPVM) say that the injuries sustained were not life-threatening injuries.

The car was driving south on Langelier Blvd. and the small SUV was heading north, according to information from Caroline Chèvrefils, spokesperson for the SPVM. The small SUV then turned west at Bélanger and that’s when the collision occurred.

Police arrived on the scene after several calls were made to 911.

There were two occupants in the car, a 63 year-old male driver and a 61 year-old woman. The SUV’s driver was a 28 year-old man. Chèvrefils says the SUV had a passenger who left before police arrived.

All present parties were taken to hospital as a preventive measure, and no major injuries were reported.

Responding police officers found ticketed the 28-year-old driver of the small SUV, as per article 372 of the Highway Safety Code. The article states that “The driver of a road vehicle who is about to make a turn, […] must, after ascertaining that he may do so in safety, signal his intention by means of his turn-signal lights.”

He faces a $176 fine.
