The second annual Kahnawà:ke Pride parade is taking place on Saturday.
“We’re celebrating the LGBTQ plus community, the two-spirit community, the Indigiqueer community,” said Jess Beauvais of the Kahnawà:ke pride committee. “We’re uplifting our community of Kahnawà:ke and all of our kin who are LGBTQ two- spirit.”

“I’m excited again,” said Calcifer Goodleaf of the Kahnawà:ke pride committee. “I was excited last year as well.”
“It’s always nice to have such a nice event.”

The parade itself starts at 3 p.m. at Orville Standup park and ends at Karonhianónhnha Tsi Ionterihwaienstáhkhwa School where there will be an all-ages after party from 4:30 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Last year was the first Pride parade for the Kahnawà:ke community.
Organizers say that having it this year confirms that it will be an annual event.

“Seeing everybody come out and come together and enjoy a day full of celebration of people’s differences,” said Goodleaf. “I love that.”
“It’s nice to see acceptance.”
“It is open for everyone, anyone who are allies, friends, anyone from those communities, indigenous, non-indigenous,” added Beauvais. “You’re welcome to our pride.”
“We hope to celebrate with you.”
