Fire at triplex in Montreal’s east end

A three-alarm fire caused several buildings to be evacuated in Mercier-Hochelaga-Maisonneuve Tuesday night.

According to the Montreal fire department (SIM), the blaze started around 10 p.m. on the top floor of a triplex on Chambly Street.

The neighbouring buildings were evacuated as a precaution and several streets were closed to traffic.

An investigation into what started the fire is underway.
