Gas prices in Montreal expected to surge 14 cents Thursday

Drivers in Montreal are bracing for a double-digit spike at the gas pumps on Thursday, as the price is expected to rise 14 cents at midnight.

The price at the pump is set to surge to 188.9 cents/litre in Montreal – up from Wednesday’s 174.9 cents/litre.

Petroleum analyst Dan McTeague, at Gas Wizard, says the 14-cent jump is expected across Quebec and Ontario.

It’s believed to be linked to price increases for wholesale gas.

The last time gas prices were this high was in August 2022, according to McTeague.
