Group encouraging young adults to unplug from devices

Following the results of a recent survey conducted by Léger, a group is inviting young adults to take time and disconnect from their electronic devices.

PAUSE — a group that promotes better internet and screen use to avoid hyperconnectivity — says it is inviting young Canadians to unplug for 24 hours on Sunday, Nov. 17, after Léger found that 90 per cent of young adults find screens to be negative.

Also according to the survey, 95 per cent say they want to reduce their screen time. That same percentage of respondents say they see benefits in taking breaks, but most don’t even try to take them.

PAUSE says Nov. 17 will be a day to disconnect and recharge. The challenge encourages all to not use screens for any form of entertainment, including video games, social media, and streaming platforms on all devices.
