Jewish General Hospital celebrates 90th anniversary

The city of Montreal helped to celebrate the Jewish General Hospital’s 90th anniversary.

Montreal Mayor Valérie Plante, alongside representatives of the hospital, held a special ceremony on Thursday.

The Jewish General Hospital opened their doors on October 8, 1934 and is located on Chemin de la Côte-Sainte-Catherine.

“Thank you all for being here today and again, happy anniversary. And thank you for contributing to the reputation of Montreal worldwide,” said Plante.

Jewish General Hospital President and CEO Bram Freedman represents the third generation of his family to work and operate in the hospital.

He thanked everyone for their continuous support throughout the years.

“We are extremely fortunate to be able to count on generous donors from all segments of society, irrespective of religion, ethnicity, language, who are inspired by our mission, and who want to help us advance that mission,” said Freedman. “We are grateful for that support, and we wouldn’t be one of the top hospitals in Quebec and in Canada without that support from the community.”

The hospital has spent nine decades leading the frontline of health care innovation and patient care in Montreal.

Chair of the Board of Directors of the CIUSS West-Central Dr. Mordecai Yalovsky was also in attendance and signed the City of Montreal’s guest-book.
