More women’s hockey is coming to Laval this upcoming season.
PWHL Montreal has announced Place Bell will be the team’s main home arena for regular-season games in the 2024-25 campaign – the franchise’s second season in the new Professional Women’s Hockey League.
The organization says it made the decision based on the “overwhelming fan response” in its inaugural year.
Last season, PWHL Montreal split its regular-season games between the Verdun Auditorium, Place Bell and the Bell Centre. The team also played its two home playoff games at Place Bell.
Three of the six games played in Laval – regular season and postseason combined – were in front of sold-out crowds of 10,172.
“We are ecstatic to welcome the PWHL back to Place Bell for a full season following their immensely successful debut last year,” said France Margaret Bélanger, president of Groupe CH Sports and Entertainment. “Over the course of hosting multiple record-setting PWHL Montreal games in our venues in 2024, we saw crowds create an electric atmosphere, once again demonstrating the strength of this hockey market.”
It’s not clear how many PWHL games – if any – will be played at the Verdun Auditorium this season. But the team will continue to train there, it says.
The 2024-25 PWHL regular-season schedule will see each team play 30 games, including some at neutral sites.
