Montreal celebrates 382nd birthday!

Montreal is officially 382 years old! The city was founded on May 17, 1642.

Montreal is the largest city in Quebec, with over four million residents.

In 1642, French military officer Paul de Chomedey de Maisonneuve founded Montreal under the name “Ville-Marie” – dedicated to the Virgin Mary.

This was part of the plan to create a French colonial empire, and the city became a focal point for the fur trade.

Today, Montreal is home to many iconic buildings and districts like the Old Port, the Lachine Canal, and more.

This famous city is older than Canada, founded in 1867 – by more than 200 years!
