Montreal’s Fabre and D’Iberville metro stations reopen Wednesday

The Fabre and D’Iberville metro stations on Montreal’s blue line reponed at 10 a.m. Wednesday morning, but the Saint-Michel station remains closed for an indefinite period.

On Oct.3, the Société de transport de Montréal (STM) announced that significant damage to a main beam located above the tracks forced them to close the Saint-Michel station for safety reasons.

And since there were no other options that allowed the trains to turn around and serve the rest of the blue line, Fabre and D’Iberville stations were forced to close.

The STM explained on Wednesday that it managed to find a way to turn the metro trains around from D’Iberville station.

However, they indicated that they made technical modifications to signaling and control systems to allow for turnaround maneuvers from D’Iberville.

On social media, Montreal Mayor Valérie Plante said this was “excellent news.”

The bus shuttle service will be maintained between the D’Iberville and Saint-Michel stations.

“To date, the engineering teams have collected data on the site and initiated the design of the interventions. This design is ongoing. The next step will be to carry out the work,” said the STM, which will provide a more precise schedule when more information is available.
