Multiple vehicles hit by gunfire in St-Michel

Some Montrealers in St-Michel woke up on Sunday morning to find their vehicles with bullet impacts.

Police spokesperson Sabrina Gauthier (SPVM) confirms that they were first alerted to this incident when a call came into 911 at around 9:50 a.m.

The call was about one specific vehicle on 7th Ave., but when officers arrived on the scene, they found multiple vehicles impacted by gunfire and shell casings on the ground. Including cars impacted on 8th Ave., near Denis Papin street.

SPVM says that the event likely occurred overnight after a conflict between two groups of young people. They could not specify what ages exactly, as the investigation is in its early stages, but they’ve met with witnesses which led them to this hypothesis Gauthier explained.

No calls came into 911 about the event until this morning.

Authorities are combing over security camera footage in the area and a K9 unit was also onsite – along with a forensic identification team.

Police say there have been no victims reported – or arrests – as of yet.
