Residents of Montreal’s Complexe Guy-Favreau call on city to remove homeless encampments in Chinatown

Residents of Montreal’s Complexe Guy-Favreau are calling on municipal authorities to dismantle the homeless encampment in the Chinatown area.

In a press release from the Center for Research-Action on Race Relations, they say it’s creating serious safety and health concerns.

Several residents have complained to the police, to no avail, they claim.

They’re blaming both the police and the city for failing to enforce municipal by-laws concerning noise, illegal parking, littering, etc. in relation to weekly food distribution right in front of the building.

They are calling on authorities to help ensure peace and quality of life in the neighbourhood.

CityNews reached out to the City of Montreal and have yet to hear back.
