Several road closures for Montreal-area as of April 12

Multiple major road closures ahead for Montreal and Laval drivers this weekend.

Papineau-Leblanc Bridge and portion of Highway 19

The Papineau-Leblanc Bridge and a portion of Highway 19 will be completely closed to traffic from April 12 to 15. The closure is required to replace the stays on the structure.

Highway 19 (Papineau) will be completely closed to traffic starting Friday at 10 p.m. until Monday 4:30 a.m.

There will be a complete closure southbound between Highway 440 (Jean-Noël-Lavoie) and Henri-Bourrassa Blvd., but access to Saint-Martin Blvd. will be possible.

There will be a closure heading northbound between Henri-Bourassa and de la Concorde Blvd.

To travel from Montreal to Laval, drivers are urged to take the Pie-IX Bridge and the Médéric-Martin Bridge.

To get from Laval to Montreal, drivers should take the Pie-IX Bridge or the Louis-Bisson Bridge.

Additionally, there will be a complete closure from April 12 to 22 on Highway 25 going in both directions, including the Louis-Hippolyte-La Fontaine tunnel.

The closure is required to carry out inspections of the ventilation towers as well as maintenance work.

The work will be carried out through evening and night shifts.

Highway 25 towards the South Shore and Montreal

Highway 25 towards the South Shore (including the Louis-Hippolyte-La Fontaine tunnel) between exit 4 – Montreal (downtown) / Jacques Cartier Bridge and the entrance from Charron Island will be closed.

There will be a complete closure of highway 25 towards Montreal (including the Louis-Hippolyte-La Fontaine tunnel) between exit 90 and Autoroute 20 west, Route 132, La Prairie / USA / Varennes, P.E. Trudeau airport from highway 20 and the entrance from Notre-Dame East Street.

The entrances to Souligny Avenue eastbound, between Dickson Street and Honoré-Beaugrand Street, will be closed 30 minutes before the highway is closed.

Also, Souligny Avenue heading West from Honoré-Beaugrand Street will be closed from 10:30 p.m. on April 12 to 13. A detour route will be set up via Hochelaga Street.

The closures will take place according to the following schedule:

Friday to Saturday (night) from 11 p.m. to 8 a.m.;

Saturday to Sunday (night) from 11 p.m. to 9 a.m.;

Sunday to Monday (night) from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m.;

Monday to Thursday (evening and night) from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.;

The work could be postponed, extended, or cancelled due to weather conditions or operational constraints.

Detour routes will be marked with temporary signage and congestion is to be expected. The Transport Ministry recommends that road users travelling in the area allow extra time to get to their destination.
