SPVM arrest 16-year-old in Ontario in connection to DDO murder

Montreal police arrested a 16-year-old in Ontario Thursday in connection with a murder last February in Dollard-des-Ormeaux.

The teen was already in custody in Kitchener for armed robbery.

On Feb. 6, a 42-year-old man was shot and killed in the parking lot of a shopping mall at the corner of des Sources and Brunswick boulevards in DDO.

The victim, Stevens Cantave, was allegedly involved in street gangs and had a criminal past, including being accused of kidnapping, drug trafficking and more.

He was pronounced dead on scene and was considered he city’s fifth homicide of the year.

Two suspects allegedly fled the area in a stolen vehicle and it was located the next day.

Police say evidence made it possible to identify the 16-year-old suspect who is considered to be the shooter.

The teen is expected to be charged in with first-degree murder in Quebec Youth Court.

The investigation is ongoing and SPVM ask witnesses or those with information on the case to contact police.
