The Sûreté du Québec (SQ) is investigating the death of a baby that occurred Sunday in the La Baie borough of Saguenay.
Officers from the Saguenay Police Department were called to an apartment building in La Baie on Sunday regarding a three-month-old baby who was unconscious.
The baby was taken to the Chicoutimi hospital, where he was pronounced dead, said Nicolas Scholtus, spokesperson for the SQ.
The investigation is being conducted in collaboration with the Saguenay Police Department by the provincial police force’s crimes against the person investigation unit.
“Several expert assessments and an autopsy will be performed to try to determine the cause of death and establish the causes and circumstances of all this,” Scholtus said.
