Teen murder suspect found and arrested after fleeing custody in Ontario: Montreal police

A 16-year-old murder suspect in Montreal who escaped custody in Ontario has been found and arrested.

Montreal police announced Thursday that Makail Gas Mohamed was arrested in Kitchener by the Waterloo Regional Police Service (WRPS) on Tuesday night, after fleeing a youth centre near Pertersburg, Ontario on July 21.

He’s linked to a murder that occurred last February in Dollard-des-Ormeaux, in Montreal’s West Island, where a 42-year-old man was shot and killed in the parking lot of a shopping mall.

Gas Mohamed was arrested by SPVM officers on July 18 while he was already in custody in Kitchener for armed robbery.

He’s currently awaiting trial for the alleged murder.
