Thieves allegedly attempt to steal thousands of liters of gasoline in Brossard

Longueuil police (SPAL) are looking for two people who allegedly tried steal “thousands” of litres of gasoline from a Brossard gas station overnight.

The incident occurred around 2:15 a.m., on Grande Allée, near Highway 30.

Their plan was thwarted when officers arrived on the scene and caught them in the act.

According to SPAL, the suspects poured gasoline into large cans and placed the cans in a truck.

One of the suspects, a 19-year-old man, was arrested immediately, while the other suspect fled on foot.

The teen was arrested and taken into custody and is expected to speak with investigators on Tuesday.

Authorities say he is known to them and could face charges of theft of more than $5,000.

The other suspect, whose age has not been specified, has not been located.

SPAL officers are working to find him, with the help of a dog handler from the Sûreté du Québec (SQ).

The truck containing the gasoline cans was recovered by the police.

The gas station was open at the time of the theft.
