Two stabbing incidents in downtown Montreal

A 28-year-old man was stabbed in Montreal’s Ville-Marie borough Sunday night.

Montreal police (SPVM) say the man was refused access to a business near Sainte-Catherine and Saint-Denis — he then reportedly started a conflict with a person after exiting the building.

The person then stabbed the 28-year-old, but authorities say his life is not in danger.

Multiple witnesses will be questioned by investigators as the incident occurred while many were outside, says the SPVM.

They add that they need to determine exactly who did what before seeing if any arrests will be made — and if the victim wants to file a complaint.

Also last night and in the Ville-Marie borough — two men were stabbed near Notre-Dame Street.

The incident occurred between a 39-year-old and a 43-year-old at an encampment for those experiencing homelessness.

One of the men entered the other’s tent to allegedly steal an object, which resulted in the two stabbing each other.

Police say minor injuries were reported.

An investigation is ongoing in both incidents.
