Up to 50mm of rain and thunderstorms on the way for Montreal

After a heat wave, a low-pressure system is taking over. Rain and severe thunderstorms are on the way for southern Quebec.

Environment Canada has issued a weather warning for Montreal about dangerous thunderstorms that could produce strong wind gusts and heavy downpours on Thursday.

“Rainfall amounts could exceed 50 millimetres under thunderstorms within a few hours or less. Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads,” reads Environment Canada’s weather statement. “Water-related activities may be unsafe due to violent and sudden gusts of wind over bodies of water.”

Thursday could feel like 35 degrees with the humidex.

Friday we’ll see similar weather with a risk of thunderstorms and showers in the afternoon. The high will be 22, but the humidex will make it feel like 28 degrees.

Chance of more showers on both Saturday and Sunday with highs of 18 and 21.

Cloudy skies and drier on Monday, with a high of 20.
